Crankshaft Grind

Crankshaft regrinds are sometimes necessary to repair journals on the crankshaft when, for example, a big end bearing has been damaged or worn through. This service includes a check of the crankshaft for cracks or deformities and a regrind of the journals to +10, +20, +30 or sometimes even +40 thousandths of an inch. The level of grind will be assessed prior to work being carried out and in the rare eventuality that the crank is too badly damaged to grind to any of these levels a minimum charge of £40 is placed for the diagnostic checks. The cost also includes the supply of suitable bearings to match the thickness of the grind.
