ECU Upgrades
AfterMarket ECU's
There are many advantages of an aftermarket ECU. Primarily the ability to alter the engines fuelling and ignition 'map' allows us to release the optimum performance at any given point along the rev-range. These modifications can increse performance dramatically but also allow for a far smoother running engine and also help with fuel economy and engine longevity.
It is recommended that you leave the 'mapping' to a seasoned professional but once the initial map has been produced and the engine is safely tested the ecu will be optimally set to your individual engine and it's characteristics.
Aftermarket systems allow conversion to throttle bodies and downdraught injection and the immense power gains that these allow. The ability to map to many different inputs also allows the introduction of forced induction applications and the power gains they offer.
We have received training for a number of aftermarket systems and have now performed a number of conversions with a good deal of success.
If you are looking for ultimate control over your engine and also the best perfromance possible from a smooth and safe engine then there really is no better option than conversion to a fully mapped aftermarket ecu.
DTA & OMEX
DTA & OMEX are both proven examples of the aftermarket ECU and offer a host of features that are designed for the increased 'controlability' of the engine management system. V8Developments has been instrumental in the development of the OMEX 710 series ECU in it's application to the Rover V8 engine and we have staff fully trained by OMEX to fit and 'map' their systems.
VEMS
The VEMS (Versatile Engine Management System) ECU is a new development and is as yet relatively untested, although it does appear to be a good, low cost, alternative to the more prominent names above. We will be testing this sytem over the coming months and will be updating this site with our findings when they are available ... watch this space!!
